ORCCA Achievements 2006-2012

ORCCA has been working hard to provide innovative, comprehensive services to feed, house, warm, and educate children and families on the South Coast.  Here are some of the highlights!

ORCCA assembled a $10 million dollar funding package for the food warehouse and the Child and Family Resource Center.  These facilities are now under construction.

In 2005, ORCCA had 150 employees.  Since that time, the agency has grown to 178 employees.


ORCCA’s first development department formed, allowing ORCCA to increase its ability in fund raising and grant awards annually since 2006.

In 2007, ORCCA launched the first snack pack program in Oregon, which became a model for agencies across the State of Oregon and now serves over 600 children a year.


In 2005, the agency’s annual budget was a little over $5.8 million dollars a year.  At this time, the annual budget is $9.3 million dollars a year.

Working with many community partners and funders, ORCCA developed the funding to purchase and renovate Jane’s House, a domestic violence shelter for families.


In 2006, ORCCA launched its new brand name using the National Community Action Huggy Heart.

ORCCA launched a program with local dentists, Medical Teams International, and local doctors to create a mobile dental unit in Coos County.


ORCCA created a full time IT position to implement major upgrades in its computer infrastructure.

ORCCA renovated and completed the first of three ORCCA distribution Hubs in the service territory.  The new facility is also the first pantry in the South Coast Food Share service area designed as a shopping style pantry.


ORCCA redesign its website to provide more information and improve access to information. We introduced the use of social media as vehicle for ORCCA’s Public Relations and community presence, including FaceBook, YouTube, Linked In, MySpace, and Twitter.

In 2006, South Coast Food Share was operating out of donated dock space throughout the community. SCFS is now operating out of a warehouse space, and moving 2 million pounds of food a year, 1.2 million more pounds than we were moving just 5 years ago.


ORCCA has offered employees the opportunity to receive training on communications, conflict resolution, and has worked to develop organizational guiding documents such as the ORCCA Aspirations.

ORCCA has blossomed with green initiatives.  We have developed solar power for low-income houses and the Myrtle Point Food Share, and launched sustainability initiatives with the ORCCA staff.


In 2009, ORCCA added an Early Head Start program, allowing us to serve over 50 more children and their families each year.  Now, Head Start serves infants, toddlers, and pre-school age children!
