Oregon Coast Community Action April 2010
Teens help our community!
Action Adventure engages teens in the South Coast community by combining volunteerism and adventure with the aim of encouraging youth philanthropy and community involvement. Students first complete a day of service, in which they participate in hands-on community service by working with South Coast Food Share, from working in the warehouse to organizing a fundraiser to creating a mural that promotes Food Share. This engagement in meaningful service activities will not only give back to the community, but it will also inspire a sense of civic engagement in the involved teens. Once the service project is completed, the Community Action Adventure team participates in a fun group activity of their choice. Examples include a beach bonfire, cosmic bowling, seaplane rides, and dune buggy adventures.
