Development:
- National Day of Service & Remembrance Dinner - Join Oregon Coast Community Action and the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program in honoring those who keep us safe here on the South Coast during the National Day of Service & Remembrance benefit dinner! A fun family event with a full dinner of lasagna, salad and bread, live entertainment, key note speakers, music and more, from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, at the Oregon Coast Culinary Institute.
- Octoberfish – Join with our community partners in this community celebration benefiting ORCCA’s children’s program on October 9, from 12 to 6 at the Old Charleston School. There will be music, food, a cider press, and much more!
Essential Services:
- Hygiene Drive - To donate bring new and unopened hygiene products for hygiene kits to room 228. The kits will be given to the homeless and other individuals who request them. Items needed include: shampoo (small trial size preferred), hand lotion, feminine products, soap, sunscreen, combs/brushes, socks, deodorant, toothbrushes and paste, razors, disposable rain ponchos, nail clippers, socks, and laundry soap (trial size of samples preferred) and such. - Veterans 2010 Stand Down- This is a day dedicated to Coos County’s Veterans in need. A wide range of services and Veterans Organization will be represented and there will be a hot meal (BBQ), haircuts, medical care, dental info, housing programs, employment opportunities, educational help, D.O.D gear, social security and necessity bags. Come check it out Friday 9/10/10 10:00am-4:00pm 189 South Wall Street (fire hall along Cape Arago Hwy) in Coos Bay.
- Oregon Coast Community Action and its South Coast Food Share program wants to thank the many guests and supporters at the Myrtle Point Food Share Grand Opening for their generous involvement and contribution to making the Sep. 10, 2010 event such a success. The presence of representatives from state agencies, community leaders, funders, and long time volunteers made the launch of the first shopping style pantry on the South Coast a truly momentous occasion.
- A special thanks goes to our guest speakers including City of Myrtle Point representatives Mayor Michael Johnson and John Walsh, Becky Bryant with Infrastructure Finance Authority, Eileen Ophus with CCD Business Development Corporation, Joe Kearns with Ford Family Foundation, Jeff Griffin with The Governor’s Economic Revitalization Team, Rachel Dueker of the Oregon Food Bank, community leader Greg Howland Leon Brown and the Myrtle Point Chamber of Commerce; and special honored guest Mrs. Walter Graham, who provided a moving remembrance of her late husband, Rev.
