Community Action Connect: Neighbors to Helping Neighbors!
Special requests to "Connect" by volunteering or donating!
Head Start is in need of guests who would like to come into the classroom and talk to the children about their interests. Some ideas would be storytellers, gardeners, farmers, tribal speakers, puppets, dental demonstrators, dancers, musicians, performers, ranchers, foresters, doctors, gem and mineral professionals, and artisians of all kinds. If you are interested in sharing your interests with preschool children in the classroom, please contact Jen S. at 888-7188.
If you know of anyone who has some furniture they would like to donate, we have a family who is in need of all furniture items. Please contact Jen. S at 888-7188.
Energy Services is always seeking wood donations at any time. There is a great need for people heating homes with woodstoves who are unable to afford the cost of wood fuel to donate please call Phil in Energy at 888-7078.
The Housing and Emergency Services Department is seeking donations of coats and warm clothing of all sizes, sleeping bags and blankets. If you would like to make a donation, please bring them to room 228 in the Newmark Center or call 888-1574.
Community Action Connect THANK YOUS!:
Kudos to the youth from Coos County Opportunity Program, for volunteering their time at South Coast Food Share. We appreciate you connecting with your community!
What a great weekend we had for the Bay Area Fun Fest, the weather was great, the crowd was wonderful, and the volunteers who came out were amazing! Thanks to Sharon Seiler, Emily Summerfield, Katie Vandersall, Caolyn Slyter, Sue Gleich, Beth Palmer, Jen Shilling, Amber Mitchell, Rollie Lobsinger, and the Pierce and Flora families! We were able to get information about ORCCA to the public, and take in some nice donations. Mary Schoen-Clark wrapped it up nicely by saying, "When I was at our booth as some parents helped their small boy pick out a piece of candy and then let him drop a coin into our donation can. It was extremely heart warming. Thanks to everyone for participating and helping us get the word out about all the things we do to feed, house, warm, and educate our neighbors!"
