Community Action Connect:  An Opportunity for Neighbors to Help Their Neighbors!

Join ORCCA and Toy Tales at the Bay Area Fun Fest!

ORCCA will have a table set up at the Bay Area Fun Festival on Saturday Sep.19th from 8:45am to 6:15pm and Sunday Sep. 20th from 9:00am to 5pm for Toy Tales. We are distributing gently used toys at prices accessible for all families, and handing out information about ORCCA. Proceeds will go to our children's programming (Head Start, Snack Pack, CASA). If you wanted to participate in the fun, we are seeking volunteers for toy "sales", face painting, and for set up/break down of the table. If you are interested, please contact MacKenzie Ross at mross@orcca.us or Madeline Enos at menos@orcca.us or (541)888-7070.

Join Senator Verger, CASA, and ORCCA in the Bay Area Fun Fest Parade!

Senator Joanne Verger shows her support of CASA by joining our float in the Bay Area Fun Festival Parade on Sept. 19th in Coos Bay. The theme of the float will be "At home, thanks to CASA."  We have a large float and would like to have lots of kids on it. If you have children or grandchildren who would like to be in the parade, please let me know.  We'd like a count by Friday morning, so RSVP with Madeline Enos, menos@orcca.us if you'd like to join.  We will also be having a work party to decorate the float, come help make it look beautiful! Hope to see you at the parade!

There will be a community education workshop on Jam's and Jelly on Sunday the 20th of September. This will take place in Gold Beach at the local Gold Beach Seventh Day Adventist church at 12pm. Please come and learn how to preserve quality produce for long term, and try samples that will be provided. Join us to learn how to preserve fresh produce. Please contact sharons@orcca.us for more details.

We need volunteers to help pack emergency food boxes for hungry families, along with other related activies down at the South Coast Food Share Warehouse. If you are interested in helping out, please contact volunteer coordinator Madeline Enos at menos@orcca.us or (541)888-7070.

ORCCA is now recruiting applicants for AmeriCorps positions! Serve children, hungry families, families in crisis and much more! All AmericCorps members qualify for: Food Stamps, Tuition Waiver at a higher learning institution, Educational Award to be used for student loans or to pay for higher education (amount determined by hours served) and much more! In the future, Community Action Connect will go out the first Monday of every month. Contact Madeline Enos at menos@orcca.us if you have any questions.
