What is a pledge and how does it work?

E-mail Print PDF
When an Energy Services staff member determines the amount of assistance you will receive, he or she telephones or sends a FAX with that information to your energy provider. This is called a pledge and is usually done on the day of your appointment. The pledge is Oregon Coast Community Action’s commitment to make a payment as a subsidy to your heating expenses In return, the energy provider agrees to accept the pledge just as if a cash payment had been made on the account. This stops all actions on the account, such as past due amounts, shut-offs, and late fees. Please note that the amount of the pledge will not immediately be posted to your account as a payment. It could take up to two billing cycles to appear on your bill. After the pledge is made, continue to pay your new charges on your bill as usual.
