Includes affordable housing units located in Coos Bay, listings of available rentals, housing counseling, and emergency rental assistance, to name a few. The Oregon, Department of Oregon Housing & Community Services funds many of these activities.

RAP (Rental Assistance Program)
  • One time rental assistance (up to one month’s rent)
  • Must show ability to afford rent in the future.
  • Once per year

HTBA (Home Tenant Based Assistance)
  • Six months to one-year rental subsidy
  • Must be very low-income
  • There is a wait list based on the date received and preference points
  • Self-sufficiency program

Family Transitions Program
  • Must be homeless
  • Must have children
  • Rental subsidy assistance for three to six months (short term)
  • Self-sufficiency program

COOLS (Coos Oregon Leasing + Services)
  • Permanent housing program for homeless mentally ill individuals
  • Must be referred from CCMH (Coos County Mental Health)

Deposit Only Assistance
  • One time help with deposit
  • Deposit can be no more than two times the rent
  • Property must pass inspection
  • Applicants must be income eligible

Transitional Housing HSP
  • Assistance for families with children
  • Applicants must be either homeless or at risk of becoming homeless

Salmon Industry Assistance
  • Assistance for commercial salmon industry or fishing households in crisis
  • Helps with housing related expenses only

MedNet
  • For people without health insurance
  • Helps with prescriptions, medical, and dental appointments
  • One time assistance of up to $60  (per year, per household member)

Dental Van
  • The dental van clinics are intended to address urgent dental needs for children and adults without dental insurance.  The major service provided by the dental van is extractions, but may also have some x-ray and filling services available.
