Meet Terry and Joyce Edwards. LaVerne Edwards, the founder of E.L. Edwards, always believed “people, no matter what they pay for rent, deserve safe and clean housing.” This is the legacy that Terry and Joyce Edwards have worked hard to continue through their various assistance programs and volunteer work.Joyce and Terry are Community Action!
The Edwards help with an array of programs for ORCCA, including the Tenant Based Assistance program, which helps with rent subsides for 6 – 12 months as tenants strive to achieve better jobs or more income to pay their rent, as well as the Move-In Deposit Assistance program.
In addition to these programs, Terry also sits on the South Coast Homeless Council which works to find solutions for challenges facing homeless families in Coos County and works with organizations, such as Star of Hope and Bay Area First Step.
Though ownership of the company may have changed in 2008 to their colleague Kris Thurman, Terry and Joyce still keep a presence within the company, offering expertise developed over 25 years of experience in working with families from a variety of diverse backgrounds. Even during their semi-retirement Terry and Joyce have continued to strive to make safe, affordable housing available to all people in our community.
