Many, many thanks to toy, food, and monetary donors - your generosity will help a lot of families struggling with food insecurity and hunger this holiday season! Through Bus Jam 2013, a total of 24,100lbs of non-perishable food items and $1,015 was donated to South Coast Food Share. For every $1 donation, we are able to distribute 7lbs of food.
South Coast Food Share is a program of Oregon Coast Community Action that serves as a regional food bank member of Oregon Food Bank and distribution hub to 26 partner agencies from North Bend to Brookings. Last year, South Coast Food Share distributed over 1.4 million pounds of food to our network of emergency food box and meal sites. We could not do this without the support and service from our volunteers.
Special thanks to the volunteers that helped to unload the non-perishable food item donations on Sat., Dec. 7th! Kudos to volunteers Schira N., Gerald G., Bob & Terri C., Debbie from The Mill Casino & RV Park, Cameron, Trinity, Faith, MHS Key Club, and SWOCC Soccer and Softball teams. Your service and support on Sat., Dec. 7th was so appreciated! We hope to see you back again soon!
South Coast Food Share has a tremendous need for individual and group volunteers to help sort donated food. Dates and times for volunteer opportunities are flexible. Your volunteer service will make a BIG difference in the fight against hunger in our community!
For more information on becoming a South Coast Food Share volunteer, please contact Deborah Ross at 541.435.7774 or the South Coast Food Share at 541.435.7754.
