Hours: 40 per week

Primary Purpose
Perform a full range of accounting activities and responsibilities for conducting the business of Oregon Coast Community Action.

Descriptions of Duties and Tasks

Accounts Payable:
  • Prepare and process accounts payable with Accounting Specialist I
  • Processing and entering data into computer system accurately (JV, CR, etc)
  • Obtain appropriate signatures and backup documentation
  • Reconcile invoices and accounts
  • Spreadsheet development
  • Prepare appropriate reports
  • Sort, distribute, mail and complete accounts payable process
  • Filing of accounts payable and other documentation

Payroll Processing:
Assist Human Resource Coordinator and Payroll Coordinator with payroll processes including: Processing time sheets, garnishments, distribution of checks, etc.
Cash:
  • Receive cash daily from Finance Director,  Human Resources or Payroll Coordinator
  • Prepare daily deposit and cash receipts journal entry
  • Deposit cash and checks to bank daily as required

Miscellaneous:
  • Assist other departments as needed (ie: filing, spreadsheet development, etc)
  • Regular attendance is a requirement of the position
  • Copy machine maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Process mail daily for entire ORCCA Agency
  • Safety Site Inspector for Accounting Department with Accounting Specialist I
  • Able to drive long distances
  • Ability to sit in meetings for as long as four hours at a time
  • Ability to work in excess of eight hours per day and during evenings as required
  • Assist Finance Director, Finance Coordinator, Human Resource Coordinator, Payroll Coordinator, Assistant to the CEO and Accounting Specialist I when required
  • Actively support the agency by being involved in meetings and activities.


Knowledge of Skills and Abilities

Skills and Knowledge and Experience:
  • Knowledge of accounting principles
  • Knowledge of accounting software (MIP software a plus)
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast passed environment
  • Ability to learn new procedures quickly
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Knowledge of other computer programs including Word and email
  • Experience operating general office equipment (i.e. 10 key, copier, etc.)

Education:
  • Level IV - Four years paid experience and/or training directly related to the Position  Description is required.  An Associate Degree or Certificate in a related field may be substituted for up to two years paid experience.

Work Environment:
  • Geographic Area: Coos Bay
  • Primary job site: Newmark Center

Other:
  • Current Oregon Drivers License is required
  • Must have good driving record
  • Proof of automobile liability insurance
  • Reliable transportation
  • Must be drug & alcohol free
  • Able to pass Criminal Background check
  • Ability to lift items up to 51 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Health appraisal
  • Other tasks as requested
