Oregon Coast Community Action is hosting open houses this week to give new volunteers a chance to learn more about helping local children and families in Coos and Curry counties.
The events are being held to encourage the community to come together to help others in need of shelter, food, warmth or basic needs.
• Thursday: from 4 to 6 p.m., at the South Coast Food Share warehouse on the SOCC campus, across from the Rec Center.
• Saturday: from 12 to 2 p.m., at the South Coast Food Share warehouse on the SOCC campus, across from the Rec Center.
Energy Assistance volunteers are needed to assist with the crisis hotline and to create packets of free materials provided to community members who go through the energy efficiency workshop offered at ORCCA. These volunteers are needed on a daily and weekly basis.
Volunteers also are needed to assist in the South Coast Food Share warehouse from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Volunteers are invited to participate as individuals, groups, families, schools, businesses or as a congregation.
For information about opportunities or the open houses, call Madeline Enos, volunteer coordinator, at 541-888-7070.
