The World - Unions help buy two tons of food

Congratulations for our community and our Southwestern Oregon Community College unions. The classified and faculty unions at the college (locals 3972 and 3190) are concerned about those who are having difficulty obtaining adequate food.

This past holiday season, we held a food drive for Oregon Coast Community Action. For every dollar we raised, South Coast Food Share could provide and distribute seven pounds of food. The unions set a goal of raising enough money for a ton of food for our hungry neighbors. We raised enough money for two and a half tons of food. This is great news for our unions and our community.

I encourage our community members to continue donating to Oregon Coast Community Action. Their need is constant and they have the great capacity to stretch our dollars in a way that has a huge, positive effect on our area.
