KCBY - CASA program searches for new home

COQUILLE, Ore. - The Court Appointed Special Advocates program or CASA is looking for a new place to call home, as an increased volunteer base and workforce has forced them to outgrow their current building.

CASA, a program of Oregon Coast Community Action, serves vulnerable children in Coos County by giving them a voice in court through their volunteers or CASA's.

Right now, the program is operating out of the Department of Human Services building near the courthouse in Coquille, but now they need a space to accommodate the growing program.

"The one thing that we're concerned about is the price of everything. As a non-profit, we have to keep our costs down as much as possible, and for a renter, we would be able to give the landlord a tax write-off on the space, if they were able to donate to us," says ORCCA staff member Becky Yeager.

She says they're looking for an office space in Coquille that could accommodate three staff members and offer a meeting room for volunteers.

For more information or to inquire about providing space, call Becky Yeager at 541-888-7436.

The CASA program must be moved out of their current space by April 1.
