Weeklong fundraising event kicks off July 16 – July 24
July 1, 2010

Beginning on July 16 and running through July 24, Coos County residents will have an opportunity to participate in the third-annual Dinner & A Movie event!

A community activity dedicated raising funds to help feed hungry families on the South Coast, Dinner & A Movie is a weeklong fundraising event that will feature 9 local restaurants and raise money to help provide and distribute food to hungry children and families in our region.

Hosted by Oregon Coast Community Action, Dinner & A Movie encourages the entire community to participate by simply eating at one of the 9 restaurants involved in this exciting event! A percentage of every plate ordered will go toward making sure no child or family will fight hunger alone. Customers who eat at local restaurants participating in this exciting fundraiser will also receive a coupon to Video & More in North Bend, to further encourage support of dedicated local businesses.

An annual July event, Dinner & A Movie raises money by working with local restaurants and supports local businesses while raising money for the South Coast Food Share program, which provides over 1.9 million pounds of food each year to hungry families in Coos and Curry counties.

Restaurants participating in this important community event include eateries in Coos Bay, North Bend, Myrtle Point, and Bandon.  Community members can help feed hungry families by dining at Alloro Wine Bar in Bandon; Java Jones coffee house in Coos Bay; Dave’s Pizza, North Bend Lanes, La Costa, and Ciccarelli’s in North Bend; and Kozy Kitchen locations in Coos Bay, North Bend and Myrtle Point.

Every dollar donated helps Oregon Coast Community Action to provide and distribute up to 7 pounds of food through the South Coast Food Share program. Please join in and support this unique community fundraiser that will benefit our hungry neighbors …  because no one should be hungry.

Donations can also be made quickly and easily through the South Coast Food Share Virtual Food Drive. Pick out a few food items and place those in your shopping cart, or select a full emergency food box, a shopping cart full of food or even a truckload!  Shop by the item or by the bulk, and know your selections and donations will go to feeding hungry families in our region.

See more information on the participating restaurants for Dinner & A Movie or the South Coast Food Share Virtual Food Drive at www.orcca.us.
