Coos Bay, OR (February 24, 2011) – The Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation has stepped up to the plate to help ensure children and families on the South Coast have enough to eat Through Oregon Coast Community Action’s South Coast Food Share with $32,000 in funds. The funding takes a holistic approach for supporting program operations and supplies, including $8,000 for additional food purchases, $10,000 for a food resource coordinator position, and $14,000 for food purchases for the Share Bear Snack Pack Program.

The Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation has a long history of community support to the counties in Southern Oregon. Established in 1997 and located in Roseburg, Ore., the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation has offered financial support to many community programs and organizations. Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded more than $9 million in grants to community nonprofit organizations in Douglas, Coos, Lane, Deschutes, Klamath, Jackson and Josephine counties.

“The South Coast is a very hungry place, but there are many families who are working hard to create a brighter future for their children.  By working in partnership with Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation, along with other funders, volunteers and donors, ORCCA will be able to increase the food available for our hungry neighbors and help local families to thrive,” said Mary Schoen-Clark, CEO of Oregon Coast Community Action.
