Coos Bay, OR (October 28, 2011) – A team of enthusiastic youth will soon be rolling up their sleeves and helping families thrive with Oregon Coast Community Action. AmeriCorps NCCC Team Green Four is coming to fulfill their mission of “getting things done” in Coos and Curry Counties from November 4th until December 16th. The team will help South Coast Food Share provide food to hungry families, support local kids in South Coast Head Start classrooms, increase energy efficiency in local resident’s homes, and improve community gardens in Charleston and Reedsport.
The AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) is a full-time, team-based national and community service program for 18-24 year old men and women. Members commit to a 10-month term of service and work throughout the United States in partnership with secular and faith based non-profit organizations, governments, national and state parks, Indian tribes and schools to complete six to eight week projects.
