On behalf of Oregon Coast Community Action, I want to commend the hard work of 28 teens who participated in the Watershed, Dunes and Beyond summer camp organized through the Community Action Adventure Program. Teens spent the week engaging in environmental stewardship service projects, and participants received leave-no-trace certification, as well as college credit for their work. This program was made possible by the support of staff and students from the Upward Bound program and Belloni Ranch’s Independent Living, and the leadership of visiting youth recreation specialist Nancy Chamberlain. I would also like to thank the project facilitators/adventure providers, including Adam Whitlatch with SWOCC Recreation Center Climbing Wall, Tyler Pederson with Coos Watershed Association, Laura Horan with Coos Historical and Maritime Museum, Deborah Rudd, Craig Cornu and Mike Graybill at South Slough Association, and Tom Rumreich with Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. Thank for helping our community thrive!
Sincerely,
Mary Schoen-Clark
