Oregon Coast Community Action and South Coast Head Start invite the community to stop by and check out the budding artistic talents of its youngest residents throughout March!
Organized by a Head Start parent, the show will feature the artwork created by 38 four and five year-old children enrolled in the program’s Coquille Valley location. The display is located in the entrance hall of the Coquille Community Building, located at 117 N. Birch St. and will be exhibited until March 24th. The show is completely free and open to the public during regular business hours.
The show is coordinated by Lisa Johnson, a Head Start parent and local artist, who recognizes the importance of having that type of encouragement when growing up. “It is important to encourage kids to do art at this young age,” says Johnson. “We want them to know that they can do art and they should be proud of their work.”
All pictures have been put on display thanks to the generous donations of frames from community members. As artwork continues to be added, organizers are still seeking donations of frames for the show. Those interested in donating can bring items to Judy’s New Image at 18 E 6th St in Coquille or contact Lisa Johnson at (541) 404-0755.
