Anyone can help children in need by working with Great Afternoons in Reedsport, but an exciting opportunity is now available to help children while earning funds for education and learning lots of new skills!
A position is currently available at Great Afternoons through the AmeriCorps LINKS program. This position will include an education award while working with children, learning new skills and giving back to the community. This opportunity is available to those of any age, from high school students to grandparents!
Great Afternoons is a program of Oregon Coast Community Action, and provides after-school, preschool, infant care and a day camp for children throughout the Reedsport area. Recently, Great Afternoons also partnered with Head Start in Douglas County to provide Head Start classroom services for children in the community.
This exciting AmeriCorps opportunity with Great Afternoons would be a perfect match for anyone of any age who wants to help local children. Provide care, education, and act as a role model for children of many different ages, while learning new skills to help in a future job or education.
“So many people can make a difference in their community by volunteering as an AmeriCorps member or working in our classrooms, our infant care room or with the summer program,” said Chris Marsh director of Great Afternoons. “This is a good opportunity for those who want to learn about working in a classroom, helping kids and much more.”
As an AmeriCorps member at Great Afternoons young adults, parents or grandparents will have the chance to work in the Great Afternoons office, to work with children in the classroom, hold and care for infants and have fun outside this summer with children in the community garden and the Great Afternoons day camp.
