Is it more helpful to donate food or money?

E-mail Print PDF
Donated food and money are both very important for the success of SCFS. Individually donated items provide a variety of nutritious, quality products that are often difficult to obtain from resources. Donating money helps SCFS to secure and transport donations of surplus foods, keeping our overhead low.

With this in mind, monetary donations help SCFS the most. In fact, for every $1 donated, we can distribute seven (7) pounds of nutritious food. Food banks can buy food for much less than average consumers and therefore have much more buying power. Also, monetary donations do not require staff or volunteers time to receive or organize. Whatever you choose to donate, will directly benefit people seeking food assistance.
