How can I help?

E-mail Print PDF

There are many ways to help. You can donate money, food and volunteer time, and you can take political action by writing to your elected officials. We thank you in advance for helping in any way that you can.

Donations of money are very helpful; for every dollar that you give, SCFS can purchase 7 pounds of food to give to hungry people. We welcome your donations via check, or online through our Virtual Donation Drive with American Express, Discover, MasterCard or Visa. You can become a supporting member of SCFS by making a donation of $25 or more. All donations are tax deductible.

Donations of food help provide SCFS and it’s partner agencies with immediate sources of a variety of foods. You may donate directly to a food pantry or emergency meal site in you area (click here for a list of pantries by city) or donate to the SCFS warehouse. All food received by SCFS is distributed to partner agencies who then give food to community members. For a list of the best foods to donate and those that SCFS cannot accept, please click here.

Finally, we ask you to take political action, which is the only way we can truly end hunger.  Tell your congressman, state senator or representative, by mail or a phone call, that you will not accept hunger in our region.  You can also help us speak out about specific legislation. To get started as an advocate for the hungry, consider becoming an Oregon Food Bank Champion (click here for more information)
