The working poor are the backbone of many businesses and significantly contribute to the productivity and prosperity of the Coos and Curry county region. They live in households where typically at least one adult works, but struggles to pay for rent, utilities, health care, and food. In fact, 59% of adults who receive food from the South Coast Food Share network are either employed or actively looking for work and 33% are disabled or retired. Also, 35% of people who received emergency food boxes in 2010 were children.
By giving to SCFS you are helping the area’s most needy children, families, and seniors with a basic human need—FOOD. Your donation will support our efforts to alleviate hunger in the Coos and Curry County area.
