Fax Machine Reminder
Fax machines make it easy for us to communicate with you, and for you to communicate with us. They are also essential if we have to get food recall information to you quickly.

We know that sometimes there are problems with the machines, and would like to share a few reminders that will help things go more smoothly:

  • Keep the line splitter plugged in and turned on at all times. It will automatically figure out whether a call is a phone call or a fax.
  • Our fax number is 541-888-7563
  • Make sure there is paper in the paper tray and that the output tray is clear
  • You will have to change the ink cartridge periodically. If the writing is faint, that means you need more ink.

If you are having trouble with a fax machine and can’t figure it out, call us and we’ll see what we can do: 541-888-7024.

Short Term Tax Extension for Small Non-Profits
A few months ago the IRS announced that many non-profits that haven’t had to file tax returns in the past now are required to. Because so many of them have had trouble pulling their records together, the IRS has granted a temporary extension on the deadline to file.

Small non-profits who haven’t filed since 2007 are at risk of losing their non-profit status if they don’t file their returns this year. For any of these groups with a return date between May 17 and October 15, the new filing date is October 15.  The return will not be considered late if it is filed by October 15.

Filing the return is fairly simple:

The IRS has published a list of organizations that in danger of losing their non-profit status. Please click here to download the list. Scroll down the page to find the pdf or Excel spreadsheet for Oregon, and check to make sure your 501(c)3 is not listed.

Give us a call if you have any questions about this: 541-888-7024.

Who is hungry?

  • 46 percent of households receiving emergency food had at least one working member.
  • 36 percent of those receiving emergency food are children.
  • Households with children are the largest group served. Children who are hungry have more difficulty learning in school and have a higher risk for health problems later in life.
  • Most adult emergency food recipients are working, unemployed, underemployed, retired or disabled.
  • Agencies continue to see new faces ... people seeking help for the first time in their lives.
