Governor Kate Brown declared a wildfire emergency in Oregon, fires are prompting evacuations and emergency responses throughout the state. Here locally, we are seeing the disastrous effect of the fires as they move closer to cities and towns.  In response.

 

Oregon Coast Community Action (ORCCA) is open and operating to help provide housing assistance and food connection services.

  • South Coast Food Share – Coos and Curry’s regional food bank with over 35 partner agencies that work together to provide food to hungry people. The network distributes over 3,800 food boxes and approximately 15,000 meals each month to over 10,000 people. 

  • ORCCA Essential Services - Housing, Energy, Weatherization Assistance – Provides housing stabilization services and rental assistance, emergency assistance, and weatherization assistance to over 5,000 households annually.

  • Support Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) - Works to rapidly re-house homeless Veteran families and prevent homelessness for those at imminent risk due to a housing crisis. 

 

Donations of food, water, money are now being accepted for the increased need of Emergency Food Programs. We are equipped with trucks and drivers and regularly deliver to a variety of well-established programs that are distributors of emergency foods. Our teams are working in-office and remotely to support our community.

Key Items to Donate:

  • Bottled Water

  • Diapers and wipes

  • Non-perishable bottled, canned, or jarred foods. Emphasis on Proteins.

 

*Please note we cannot accept home-canned goods as we are unable to provide the proper allergen information.

 

How to Donate:

  1. Please contact a support representative to schedule your in-person donation by phone at (541) 435-7754 or via email at southcoastfoodshare@orcca.us 

  2. Please see the list of local Food Pantries and Emergency Meal Sites where you can donate items. Please contact before arriving in-person.
