South Coast Head Start is a comprehensive early childhood program that serves children and pregnant women of income eligible families throughout the Southern Oregon Coast. The program is funded by both state and federal grants. All services are provided at no cost to the families.

South Coast Head Start offers a fun, researched-based curriculum; free and healthy meals; inclusive services for children with disabilities; child development, nutrition, and health screening with follow-up support for all enrolled children.

Priority for enrollment in Head Start programs is based on child age, family income, disabilities, and other factors that demonstrate a need for services.

Head Start Policy Council

Hello South Coast Head Start Parents,

Last week, Governor Brown announced that Oregon schools will remain closed for the rest of the school year. We anticipate that South Coast Head Start will continue to align with these school closures, unless we receive updated guidance. This is NOT an end to Head Start and Early Head Start services for this year, but it means we are still unable to provide classroom services or home visits. We will continue to monitor local and state guidelines to determine when we can reopen classrooms and home-visits.

Our goal is to partner with you as the first and most important teachers of your children to provide activities and support in the coming weeks. Our staff will continue to work to provide outreach services to you and your child through phone calls, activities for home, our Class Tag accounts, food boxes and other resources, as they are available. Please continue to connect with your classroom teams with any needs you may have or call our main office at 541-888-3717 if you have any questions.

Warmly,

Wendi Baird

Director

Cordialmente,

Wendi Baird
